Has anyone applied to South Alabama's accelerated BSN program to start Spring 2015? I have heard it takes 6-8 weeks to hear anything. Does anyone know if the school is on track to let us know if we made it or not? Does anyone have any information about the interviews? Thanks!

I recently graduated the program and it is extremely intense. If you can devote the time, it will definitely pay off. You can call the college of Nursing in mid-November to find out if acceptance letters have been sent out. The most important thing is have your ducks in a row if you plan to go to the program...submit your FASFA and begin looking for apartments near the campus.

Thanks for responding! I'm actually a "mature" student (that's the nice way of saying old);). I live in the area already and this is the only school I applied to. Is there anything else you would recommend in order to prepare for this program? Any survival tips?

There's nothing wrong with being older and in the program. I think you will find that multiple people have children and this may be a second career for most of those accepted. As far as the program goes...remember that you aren't competing with the people in your class...encourage an attitude of sharing helpful ways to remember different things. We had a group on Facebook and we shared everything!! And I think that accounted for so many of us being successful. The classes are extremely condensed and the teachers will tell you the important things...don't get behind and devote your full attention to the classes. There are certain classes that you don't necessarily need to read for...but more on that if/when you get in. I would wait to buy any books until you have started classes the previous class will have lots of resources that you can benefit from and buy at discounted rates. Learn how to manage your stress now and realize that if you are need a break between the mini-semesters then you should take the time off or go to the traditional program because you don't want to jeopardize your GPA just because you want to complete the program in a year. Of my original class I think we started off at 42 and ended with about 33/34 people graduating and passing the exit HESI. Good luck. I'll let you know more if/when you are admitted.

Great! I'm definitely into teamwork.

I'd love to know more if I make it into the program and I really appreciate being able to ask you questions. When I called the college of nursing, they said they would send letters out at the beginning of October, but that was a couple weeks ago. I'll let you know if I make it or not.

I made it in!! I will start in Jan. I'd love any and all information you are willing to share. I want to be as prepared as I can be going into it.

Congrats! I'll send you a private message...

Great! Thanks!

It wouldn't let me respond to your message till I did 15 posts. This should do it! :-)

Wondering how the program is going?! I am considering applying but am so nervous with the thought of how hard it is?! Is there any helpful tip you could share? would love more information on the program

I just graduated in December from the program. It was very intense, but so worthwhile! I liked almost all my teachers. I worked my butt off and did well. I passed the NCLEX in January in 75 questions. It was a little rough at times with all the tests, papers, and the fast timeline, but when it was over, it was over. And now, I almost miss it! (I made some really good friends) I enjoyed the smaller class size, the head teacher overseeing the program, and having classes off the main campus. Plus, Fairhope is pretty cool.

So obviously it is doable!? just worried that I will completely lose my sanity haha but love the fast pace of it all! Thanks for your input!
