I wanted to know how hard it is to get into the program? whats the gpa they are looking for i know its 3.0 but what has everyone get accepted into? Please i need some feedback....

When did everyone apply?

I applied fairly late (first week of April) and it has been a month since then. I am wondering, in what time frame did you guys who have heard typically hear back?

I figured by a month, they should have been able to come to some sort of decision. My GPA is great and I wrote a really heartfelt personal statement. I also had three really powerful letters of recommendation.

Do you mean you applied the first week of March? If you applied the first week of April it is still very soon. I think I applied the end of February I don't remember. Then they invited me to take the test pretty soon after. They are STILL waiting for one of my official transcripts that is taking forever so I have not gotten any letter of admission or rejection yet. I think it depends upon what program that you applied to also. Did you apple to the second degree? I applied to the second degree

Sorry to clarify I applied the end of February and I received a letter on Mar 2nd I think? I took the Nelson Denny March 7th and then they called me for an interview on the 10th I believe. They might just be waiting for the next cycle of testing they only offer it at specific times. I think I applied right before the last testing cycle

Nessa I just saw this now. I actually got my acceptance letter today, conditional as long as I take the Nelson Denny and the other test.

Mine says I've been accepted as a transfer student. I am a little nervous because it doesn't say DDP/Second degree, which is what I applied to. Also, they enclosed a page that has the credits that they transferred. I did 2 minors: Bio and Chem undergrad, and took a couple of graduate courses in Chem, so I am wondering if maybe those will go towards my first and second semester. On their website where it has the outline of courses for the DDP, I've already taken all of them under "First" and "Second" semester.

I am sure they will get your transcripts soon, I think you have to chase them a little bit.

Yea I got an acceptance letter on Tuesday! It says transfer because second degrees technically are transfers. Mine said the same thing. That's great that you got in before taking the test, congrats! I filled out a fafsa and I'm waiting to see what money I get in loans or grants, if any. I am going to be finishing my pre-reqs this summer. I am not 100% sure that I will be going depending on what loans I can take out. I have plenty of bills to pay so it will be hard to not work full-time for two years. If I can't get enough in loans/grants I am considering applying to Stony Brook and giving it a shot, but It's so hard to get in. Any advice?

I actually re-read my letter this morning and it doesn't say anything about the Nelson Denny. I misread it. It says "contingent upon receipt of background check." I read it quickly yesterday and so I thought I had to take the exams, apparently I don't? I have to call them on Monday, when they are open, to clarify. I really like that they took the time out to give me a sheet with a list of classes/credits they accepted, it's much more personal.

I think Stony Brook probably has a decent program, because they do have Medical, Dental, and Optometry schools, and they're probably affiliated with a lot of major hospitals. I don't know where you live, but Stony Brook was out of the question for me from the beginning because I live in Queens and the commute would be awful. Also, I think their program starts in the Summer? If you are applying to the ABSN, their website says the program starts Summer '14 and applications were due October '13 (unless they updated it). I would have applied, just to see, but then I saw the deadline (which I most definitely missed lol).

In terms of money, the CUNYS and SUNYS are definitely way cheaper, but so hard to get into. I think if you're not looking to go crazy with the loans and grants, you should definitely try! I am fortunate that I was able to save some money from working, so I don't anticipate being in major debt. But if money is an issue, you definitely get more bang for your buck with the city/state schools. I would definitely try if I was you.

P.S. Congrats to us! And to whoever else was accepted!

Thanks for your reply and advice. I teach in Flushing, where in Queens do you live?. I live on the border of Suffolk and Nassau so Molloy and Stony Brook are the same distance from me. I went to Stony Brook Undergrad and Queens College for my teaching cert. And yes you are correct, Stony Brook starts next summer and is one year so starting Molloy this Fall or Stony Brook next summer would have me graduating the same time, Spring 2016. I have money saved as well but I don't know if it is enough. The program will cost 50 grand in loans and I don't know what is "too much" to take out. What do you think? I am looking forward to hearing from FAFSA. I also LOVE that they told me what credits transferred and so I know exactly what I need to take. I am going to call on Monday as well to see if I can set up an appointment with someone because I want to make sure that the remaining pre-reqs I enrolled in for the summer are correct. (i'm taking them elsewhere). If the loans workout we might be classmates in the Fall. Nice to meet you!

Oh and I didn't get anything about a background check hmm I should ask about that. Did they send you something to fill out from your doctor about the MMR vaccine? You need that to register too.

Yes, I got the paperwork to be filled out by the doctor, which I don't even know how that's going to be able to work out, because my doctor passed away last year, so I will have to chase down the hospital for my records and see if another doctor can write it for me. I live in Whitestone, so the commute to Stony Brook would be horrendous.

If you went to Stony Brook undergrad and are familiar with the school, you should definitely apply there too since it seems it's going to be the same amount of time. Their program runs straight through, right? It seems with Molloy, we would get summers off?

If I was you, I would apply to as many places as I could, and then weigh out the options. I'm kind of doing that already lol. And I know people say "It's only money," but you have to do what's best for you in terms of your financial situation. If the FAFSA turns out generous and Molloy can offer you some money, that would be a great option, too.

Oh, and nice to meet you too, possible future classmate!

Molloy is very but very expensive . Good school though . Good luck !

Did you attend Molloy?
