I'm an OR nurse at LBJ, and we have an intern in our dept. and lots who have finished the internship. I could ask questions for you. What pavilion/dept. did you get hired into?
I haven't got hired, I applied for their GN program, and received an email yesterday for an Information session. I'm just curious to how they treat GN's at HHS.

@ lildebbie, is the information session like an interview? cos I just applied for their june internship and I havent heard from them . @ kguill975 i heard that most times an employee can influence your application and I was wondering if you could help. I really need to start using my license. I worked so hard to get into nursing school cos of my passion for the career. Now ive graduated for over a year and still cant find a job and it hurts especially when I know im better of on the floor than just sitting at home
@Chiq81 I applied on last Monday, and got an email to RSVP on Wednesday. They re-posted the job 3 days ago, reapply again, or call HR. I don't know what the information session is but I'm going like its an interview. There is also a general/healthcare job fair on Sage by the Galleria March 5.
what day is the information session

If so, send me a private message with your info. I know a few dept. directors at LBJ. We're also opening an ASC in October on the LBJ campus, so we'll need pre-op, OR, and PACU nurses for those.

It's a program that is structured around educating new nurses on proper assessment and appropriate nursing interventions. I can only speak of how the interns are treated in LBJ Pre-Op, OR, and PACU areas. It's a very supportive system, and I feel it prepares nurses for the job, as well as provides a lot of support. It's built mainly on feedback from the orientee and preceptors. All preceptors have to attend training that lasts a few days. Good luck!

The information session is March 16th @9am. You must apply and get the invite to RSVP to attend. I believe I received it within 2-3 days of applying. The info session is just as it sounds. They will be talking about the the program & various placement options. They will be collecting all supporting documents such as resume, transcripts, letters of recommendation, & exit exam scores.
A few of my former classmates started the GN program in Jan & they all love it so far. Staff is supporting and everyone seems to have great preceptors. I don't know anyone at LBJ but I'm sure all locations offer each other the same support. My classmates are at Ben Taub & Quentin Mease.
@txrn thanks..this is nice to know. I really want to work at Ben Taub
