Published

im having a hard time getting hired. i want to go to school to become an rn so i took the cna course to have a job in the field. i have my certification and i've applied to numerous hospitals, nursing homes, and rehab centers, but i havent gotten 1 interview yet.what can i do to stand out. should i have any other skills to get the upper hand in getting hired? im very eager to work but no one is giving me a chance. any help, advice, opinions is greatly appreciated.

Where have you been applying for work, which state first of all?

Without having any experience it may be harder to get your foot in the door, you are just going to need to be persistent. And are you phoning them or going to their HR depts in person and looking professional when you do?

well some places i filled out applcations in person or most hospitals tell u to apply online. I've tried to call back and ask for my application status, but thy just tell me if theyre interested they'll call me. i live in newyork. i've been applying for a month now and havent gotten any call backs. im getting frustrated.

A month isn't a long time in terms of hospital HRs. Sometimes you just have to be patient because it can take a long time to get a call. Hang in there, and have faith that the jobs are out there. Good luck!

i know how it is, i too have been applying for awhile now as a recent BSN grad in the midwest. I have put out 10 applications but only got 2 responses. Luckily one of them is the one that I really want. I think that it is really hard to find a position in some areas but easier in others. I know that a lot of my friends are working in Cleveland, and some hospitals are "all over" the new grads trying to recruit them, while others are not so conducive to new grads. I guess the best way is to be persistent and start talking to instructors and other nurses you know to help get your name out there. Good luck with the search
