Anyone out there apply to GWU's new Second Degree Program for Fall 2009? What are your stats/background? Know how many people applied? Any news or shared grief over waiting in welcome!
Sorry to hear that lilianam!! =( I just got an acceptance email earlier this week. My undergraduate GPA was a 3.1 but I had to take two prereqs and I took A&P I&II over again to improve my grades and got an A in all four of those courses. I'm also a certified EMT-B in NY (I've volunteered with my local fire department). I'm currently working as a medical assistant at a drug rehab facility for teenagers through a year long volunteer program. I felt pretty good about my essay. So I don't know if anything specifically led to my acceptance or it was a culmination? I hope this helps!
Thank you! That does help. I had an undergrad GPA of 3.72 and I did a number of internships working with different populations (although not necessarily in a medical setting, it was more of a community setting). I think perhaps it had to do with the fact that I did not have the A&P prerequisites completed by the time the admissions committee reviewed my application. I completed them this semester and got As in both..so hopefully the next time around they will look at that.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone currently in the GWU BSN program would share how the program is? And, specifically how challening the first two semesters are. I was accepted to the program for 2010, as well as another school, but was unsure about some of the semester distrubutions verses other schools as well as their online/grad courses. Any information is much appreciated.
Thanks,
cmm
Hey all,
Good news. I got a call the other day from a woman at GWU saying that because the nursing program is now a part of another department that they had enough room to offer me a spot for Fall 2010 and I took it.
As for how challenging the program is, I can't say for sure. My friend just started in the second degree clinical nurse leader program (masters level) at UMD and she says its pretty hard, meaning that there is a LOT of work and that she spends pretty much all of her free time studying. I would expect to be working really hard and studying all the time at GWU as well.

Hey all,
I am from the DC area and I applied to the second degree BSN program at GWU for Fall 2010. Unfortunately I did not get accepted, but was given the option to re-apply for next year. For those of you who were accepted and are already in the program, I was wondering if you could give me any insight as to why you think you were accepted and what you did to strengthen your applications. Thanks so much! :)
