GWU ABSN Summer 2021

Hey everyone! Looking for people who were accepted for Summer 2021 ABSN program at George Washington University!! 

I heard that when you apply with the regular ABSN application there was a checkbox that asked if we would want to be considered (I don't remember it) but apparently after speaking to someone about it I did click it, and then we get an email regarding it? not too sure how its going to work. also!! how are you guys going to go about paying for rent/living out there if you do decide to go? thats whats freaking me out because I have no savings; my friend said he took out loans that covered his rent payments and food and transporation costs which I had no idea was possible to do. if I go out there id be pretty much going on everything loaned cus since its an ABSN program it would be pretty impossible to work..

also if you guys want to add me on instagram its JINJYI 

what are your guys' thoughts also on these programs (also considering)

MT. SINAI BETH ISRAEL ABSN
SUNY DOWNSTATE
PACE 
MERCY

these are the ones im kinda also looking at but gwu is the only one I got accepted to so far, which also has the earliest start date  (Summer)

I think they let you know with your financial aid stuff, u can check the costs and aid programs section on their website

also You can take out private loans for like 80k if you wanted if I know correctly

Oh OK. I just checked my application and I check yes for all of the scholarships. Hopefully they will let us know soon... 

I already live in DC, but rent its really expensive! I'll probably have to take out a loan if I go to GW.

yeah I think I have to take out a private loan I don't think id be able to get aid that isn't private since I already did all that for my undergrad.

So from talking to admissions he said that the two programs reach out to accepted students on their own they don’t have any other part in that process other than telling them we’re interested so a decision may not be made by the time the deposit is due. He also said that merit scholarships will hopefully be given by mid February/ early March that range from 5,000-20,000.

ahh I see. okay. do you know if they interview only certain people who apply or are interested? based ont heir grades and whatn ot?

Honestly I have no idea he made it seem that if you were accepted then you get an interview but I could be wrong. But he did say you can’t stack the aid so if you get accepted into one of the programs then you don’t get the merit scholarship.

the merit scholarship sounds decent..cus then youre not locked into living there for another 3 years. which scares me. but I feel like if I did get the opportunity it also seems so good like,, half your tuition and then you get a job asap? thats kinda something that sounds hard to pass on. like a job right out of school.

If anyone is planning on accepting, Let me know. I'm making connections with current students in the program and starting to look for apartments, etc.
