Gwinnett Tech Nursing Program

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Anyone heard from Gwinnett Tech yet? I interviewed with them 2 weeks ago and still no word. I have emailed and called there, but no one has returned my calls. Just wanted to know if anyone has applied and received an acceptance letter as yet?? The waiting in driving me crazy! Thanks.

I am sooo excited too. I can't wait to meet everyone:D

amber1604 - I think that GTC will be sure to have all of their "ducks in a row" for full accreditation. (They were able to get everything together when there was an LPN program.) Also, since they have abandoned the LPN program completely, they will do everything to get the RN program up and running well. Accreditation makes them more marketable, and they want to be recognized nationally.

How do you feel about it??

I know that their other programs are good I'm just a bit nervous. And then again, we are their first RN class and they'll want to prove something with us:) I got accepted into the Athens Tech program as well but they don't offer loans and I heard they'll hang the students out to dry. I got a good vibe from the teachers at Gwinnett. I'm excited and can't wait to start. Do you have any medical background? I'm going to get with my nurse friends and ask them what I can study prior to entering the program to help me.

:yeah:Boy, sounds like we are going to have a good network of RN students at GTC. Congrats to everyone.

I am interested in learning about some of your back grounds. I graduated from GTC's LPN program last June. I can honestly say it was one of the hardest but best experiences of my life. I am confident that they know what they're doing. I currently work in Labor and Delivery at Emory Eastside - as an LPN and OR technician. I was so prepared for the work force when I got out. I was also prepared for the boards after graduation. Our whole class passed the boards on the first try.

I wish everyone the best of luck and I look forward to meeting all of you!

 Congrats to you all! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you as well. I have a bachelors degree (non-medical) and I plan to volunteer this summer at a local hospital. I have a phlebotomy certificate but have not been able to find a job doing that. (It would be great if I could get some real experience in blood draws.) For now I will keep my job until something else comes along.

momgrad5/07 - There were a couple of LPNs during my interview March31. Were you there??

Anyone received their packet as yet? I now have a personal relationship with the postman, and there was nothing for me today.

Thats so funny!:D I feel like my postman thinks I'm stalking him. I'm always lurking but no packet yet. I'm taking classes at UGA and Athens Tech this Summer because I'd like to get my Bachelors in Nursing but I'd also like to volunteer at a hospital as well. Does anyone know what other classes are needed for a BSN? I've been taking the pre-req's for MCG just to be closer to the BSN hoping that its helpful. Are any of you going to have to work during the program?

Pinksand - I was there on April 3rd. I had some friends who were there on the 31st.

No packet yet. I'm hoping it comes this week.

I am considering registering for next year, what age group are you guys?

I am a fit 43 year old, worked as a secretary for many years but cannot seem to find a job in GA so easily. Am I too old to go into nursing? I would hate to feel like a senior citizen in the class (lol). I will be trying the CNA program first.

I'm thinking 43 is not that old ; ) I'm 47, which means I will be pushing 50 when I get my RN. Trust me there are plently of "mature" adults in this arena. You won't feel out of place.

Good Luck!

Oh, thank you so much for the support, I feel so much better.

momgrad5/07 - I'm 36. Sometimes my knees pop when I walk, but other than that - I feel like I'm 21! :roll

amber1604 - Other than the 6 prereqs GTC looks at (along with some other schools) I've take Statistics & Chemistry 1 & 2 with the labs. I have yet to take Abnormal Psych. and Human Growth and Dev. Some schools have additional classes they want like Introductory Physics I and II w/labs (GSU - trad. prog.) some want Nutrition (Mercer). Take a look at what MCG requires so you're not taking classes you don't need or care to take.

Does anyone know the textbooks that are going to be used during the program? I am trying to buy my books early and start reading ahead. Any info would greatly be appreciated.
