Gwinnett Tech Fall 2021

Who is applying?

have you taken the Kaplan yet? Scheduled to take it again?

That is heartbreaking to hear because those are good numbers. Do you know how many seats they have available?

I reached out to the program support specialist to find out if there would be an informational on Thursday (yesterday) to try to ask some questions about seats, average grades and Kaplan scores. I got an email stating she is no longer with the college. Ugh

When I talked to my mentor she said that there’s 60 seats available I believe. Good luck to everyone! I will be praying for all of you!

Thank you @Jordanlv We need all the prayers and luck we can get to make it through. Prayers and luck to you and everyone else as well! May we all become the GTC class of 2023

Alyssa was this your first attempt? You know you can take it twice and it’s the same test the second time right? I attempted to get in the fall 2020 with a 76% on the Kaplan and 3.5 GPA and I did not get in. I’ve been stalking these kinds of posts for several years now and most of the applicants have a 3.6+ GPA and get in with at least an 82+ Kaplan. I don’t want to discourage you but If you can increase your chances of getting in then try.

Yes, this was my very first attempt. Unfortunately, as of right now there are no more appointment openings for the Kaplan. I'm assuming that they are booked up because the application deadline is right around the corner. I get what you mean, and I try not to get too caught up in comparing my stats to others. I think that those are the typical standards for any nursing program out there, and there's really not much that I can do at this point right now. I've retaken a couple of sciences.. my transcript doesn't look bad at all. Both A&P W/ Labs are looking good, so maybe that may help? I'm not sure. My prereq GPA actually isn't a 3.3, I was thinking about my GGC GPA. 3.4, still not "competitive" I guess, and I actually wasn't a big fan of how my labs were transferred due to the setup at GGC, those probably would've helped me a bit as well. But anything is possible and I'm going to remain hopeful and positive. If all fails I can always try again next year!

I know that Gwinnett Tech & GGC's programs are not the same, but I've heard stories from my advisor here at GGC about how some of his mentees with high GPAs and high TEAS scores were still rejected from the program, and how some of his mentees who met the minimum had a chance of getting into the program and are doing very well. It all depends on the selection process and I don't believe that they're taking in every single person with the highest scores. I'm not discrediting anyone from their hard work because I believe that we all worked very hard to get to the point where we're finally applying to a program. I say all of this to say don't stress too much about it everyone, I believe in all of us! As I mentioned, anything is possible!

I'm at GGC as well and my best friend is at the program in Gwinnett Tech. This is her last semester and you are absolutely right Alyssa! Stay positive...

That is so disheartening because those are my exact numbers, 77% on Kaplan and 3.50 GPA, I am going to take the CLEP to raise my algebra score so hoping to at least have a 3.60

Is anyone submitting their application early? If so, how early? I want to go ahead and turn it in but I’m not sure if I should wait a little bit. And Everyone’s got this! We’ve all worked so hard to get here and now it’s time! Just stay positive!

OK I see. You’re so right. Sometimes it never makes sense how it’s decided. And anything IS possible....especially if it’s less applicants, people decide to go elsewhere, or can’t go at the last minute. Good luck on getting in!

Please don’t be discouraged. If you can raise your scores then try but if you can’t then know that you gave 100%. Good luck!

I actually started this thread back in Nov because I was planning on applying for Fall 2021. Some personal stuff came up and I’m not applying anymore but have been following the thread listening and watching and rooting for ALL of you!  I know you have all worked so hard to get here and gave 100% effort.
Good luck to all of you and I look forward to seeing those “I’m in” messages coming through in a few weeks . ❤️
