Guidance with Teaching/Learning Assessment/Plan

Published

Our prof. wants us to create a teaching/learning assessment/plan & present it. I don't see that there are to be any Nursing Dx included, just knowledge deficits. My pt. has difficulty going to sleep because she lays in bed worrying & this has gotten worse since her husband passed away 2+ yrs. ago. We need to create 3-5 objectives to address. In addition, we need also present this! I think I'm okay, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice? Or helpful websites?

I am grateful for any guidance!:redpinkhe

Sorry you haven't gotten any responses on this yet.

I would suggest doing some type of 'relaxation' technique for your patient'. It wouldn't have to be very complicated or long. I'm sure that there are many different types of techniques - progressive relaxation, guided imagery, etc. Talk to a psych or oncology nurse - they're usually pretty up to date with this sort of thing.

Have you assessed whether the patient has spiritual resources that would be of use to her? That might be of some assistance; the above post mentioning guided imagery and/or progressive relaxation is a good one, and I wouldn't have thought of it. :)

Thanks for the ideas! Actually, I did take the relaxation approach along with addressing healthy sleep hygiene. I presented it on Fri. morning. I believe it went well... :imbar Thanks again!
