  1. Thanks for the ideas! Actually, I did take the relaxation approach along with addressing healthy sleep hygiene. I presented it on Fri. morning. I believe it went well... :imbar Thanks again!
  2. Our prof. wants us to create a teaching/learning assessment/plan & present it. I don't see that there are to be any Nursing Dx included, just knowledge deficits. My pt. has difficulty going to sleep because she lays in bed worrying & this has gotten worse since her husband passed away 2+ yrs. ago. We need to create 3-5 objectives to address. In addition, we need also present this! I think I'm okay, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice? Or helpful websites? I am grateful for any guidance!:redpinkhe
  3. Before you get all stressed out...Did they SAY that you were on your way out of the program? The best thing to do would be to review the nursing program handbook of your school. ALL of the basics & specifics such as this is in there. When you say that you don't know if you'll ever get the motivation to go back to school or you don't know how you're going to handle the emotional stress of getting kicked out-it sounds like you've already convinced yourself of this... Getting so overwhelmed over things isn't good for you... take a moent to put things into perspective. I would review the handbook & then go & speak to your advisor or Chair of the program...
  4. i can totally relate!! i've been waiting for this moment for over 10 yrs! i'm 32, so i know that i'm older thanmost of those in my classes, but don't care.... i'm so grateful for this opportunity & it took a lot of hard work & deterination to get here. i know that the toughest is yet to coe, but i know that we will all do it! we are all stronger than we think & somehow, somewhere, we'll conjure up the strength to get through this as we have all of the other difficult "lessons" we have learned in life. i'm also so grateful to have found allnurses! there is strength in nubers!! i look fwd. to this semester & look fwd. to hearing about everyone elses! i have orientation toorrow & start on tues, 9/1. i will be working f/t overnights fri - sun., (at least for this semester). i know that it is suggested that we don't, however, i have to pay bills...:zzzzz if anything, i ay cut down to fri & sat. night... we'll see. i'm just ranting now...! is anyone interested in starting a "study thread/group" for any of our classes this semester? if interested, please let me know... i'm looking fwd. to growing with all of you! with faith, :wshgrt: anything is possible!:redbeathe:w00t::clpty: :stdnrsrck: :hrns&wlcm:class of 2011 & 2012!! ps-the "m" key is not working at all times as you can see in y post~ sorry...
  5. It's too bad that in Michigan they don't take people right out of HS? Sure there are pre-req's in any 4 yr program, but getting into the Nursing program immediately after school is possible. Best of luck on your journey. :typingB If you really want to do it, you will get there one way or another... It took me a long time working F/T & going to school P/T till I finished the Pre-Req's & could finally afford (barely) to go F/T. Now I do both, (work F/T & Nursing school F/T)!! But, I know that this is what I wanna do. I have struggled plenty to get here... ~Good Luck
  6. Hi, Why not apply to the school(s) first? I really don't see how paying to attend a certification course is valuable? Nursing student can't require all students to have medical experience... There are people that attend right out of H. School. I nevr heard of this... And, to be honest, not everyone is lucky enough to get a job "in the field" while attending school. These days people are lucky to have jobs ) Good Luck!:wink2:
  7. Hi, Don't fret! Doing this can only hurt you, not help. I always look at the syllbus, specifically the objectives of the course. Do the assigned readings, as well as what the professor is asking of you. If the syllabus is not clear, don't be afraid to inquire w.your professor. This is also why s/he is there, to answer your questions. I know it can be difficult, because everyone learns differently, but it is VERY important that you ask your professor about her/his testing, (from the book/from notes/both). It's even MORE important that you understand the course objectives for this is what you need to understand upon completion of the course in order to pass. Getting there is your responsibility. Asking for help from your professor now instead of way into the semester is also part of it. In the past I've noticed that I tried so hard to do well that I actually end up not doing so well. I had spent the time hyped up trying to take everything in, however this is impossible. Relaxing, taking a deep breath, & focusing on your learning style will do it. Find out what your professor expects of you & apply your learning style to it! You can do it!
  8. Hi Everyone! I too am so excited & cannot believe that the time is finally here! I find great comfort knowing that we all will be moving along with the same material at the same time; a great support for sure! Is anyone here from NJ? Specifically WPU? Looking forward to orientation on Tues, and classes beginning on Sept. 1st! Best of luck to all of us & I look foward to hearing about everyones experiences! :stdnrsrck:
  9. I live in NJ & we start on Sept. 1st. Orientation is on Ayg 25th. CAn't wait!
  10. Hi! I am new to this site, and I have a question... I read your message re: Micro. study group, however, I see no link or other postings with the study group itself? How do I join a study group/find a study group? Thank-You for your assistance!! ~Erin Ps-Are you still running this group/know of other study groups going on this semester on this / other sites?
