Guidance Needed

Published

Allnursers,

I'm seeking employment in Philadelphia, PA. I have a BSN with 4 years hospital experience. I've always dreaded LTC, but have considered it this time around. Had an interview at a LTC and was told that the max ratio is 1:20, per diem rate is $44, shift diff. $1. Minimum 2 days per month which can be the one weekend/ month) required. One week orientation with possibility for extension. Is this a reasonable offer in terms of ratio, per diem rate, orientation etc.?

What is a competitive pay rate (per diem and full time) for my 4 years experience in med-surg and rehab?

What are some of the better facilities (inpatient and outpatient) in and around Philadelphia with better ratio, orientation, salary etc.? Thanks

I just considered an RN position in LTC near York.  It was their sub acute unit ratio 1:3, rate $44 per hr.  At another facility it was $50 an hour for w/e house supervisor.  I know this is not your exact area but hopefully it gives you an idea.

Thank you. I take your 1:3 ratio as a possibly typo. Other per diem offers received: LTC $47/hr, ratio 1:20, five weeks orientation, supervisor/ charge functions sometimes. Hospital $50/ hr with $5-6 differential, will get info on ratio, etc. in the week. I really dread going back to acute, but the LTC ratios are daunting. I'll eventually pick my poison. All the best in whatever you choose.
