GSU accelerated... with 2 kids?

Has anyone gone through the GSU accelerated program with children? By the time I start the program my son will be 5 1/2 and in kindergarten and my youngest will be 2 years and 3 months. I just live to far away to drive downtown for the traditional program of 3 yrs. My #1 choice is Kennesaw and I have applied to their program for next summer. But I am working on getting my backups in place. I decided I really only want to do a BSN program and that doesn't leave a lot of affordable choices. Is this doable? Thanks!

Here is a link to a list of the pre-requisites for GSU's nursing programs (the requirements for the accelerated program are at the bottom): http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/1880.html

Do you have a bachelor's degree already? If so, the only classes you should have to take are shown in the prerequisites, otherwise there are a bunch of other core requirements to apply to the accelerated program.

You may also want to look into Kennesaw State, they have both accelerated and traditional programs. Their accelerated program requires a previous bachelor's degree but the traditional does not. Also, I believe KSU's traditional program is five consecutive semesters as opposed to GSU's traditional program which takes 3 years (6 semesters, no summers) to complete.

The deadlines for application submittal for KSU are approximately 9 months before the program begins, and you have to have a certain number of prerequisites completed along with the TEAS exam. http://www.kennesaw.edu/chhs/schoolofnursing/Baccalaureate/Bac_AdmissionCriteria.htm

Thank you both.

North Georgia College and State University has an RN-BSN bridge as well as Kennesaw State. The bridge programs are somewhat hard to come by.

You can most definitely do it with two kids..and good childcare. So if you have that, stay and stay focused you will excel. Best of luck.
