I am working on my pre-req's at a CC where I had planned to get my ADN. I figured that I could start working sooner that way, then get my RN-BSN-MSN through UABirmingham.
Should I rush to get a license and a job, or just focus on getting through school?
I thought I had it all figured out, until I learned that my CC has moved the Nursing school facility to another campus an hour away! I could do a University BSN program 10 minutes from home! GRRR.
Any advice? I know people ask BSN or ADN all the time. I guess I need to know if rushing to get a job is worth it, if you still have to go to school while you're working. I can use my finaid money for now, so working isn't a huge priority. But 6-8 hours per week of just driving cuts into the gas and childcare budget a lot.
Thanks in advance.

If working is not an issue I'd certainly go straight for the more advanced degree. Learn with as few distractions and outside stressors as possible.

based on the circumstances u speak it seems as if your mind was made up for u. it may end being a blessing in disguise when you look back years from now with your BSN in hand. GL on your choice as gas is incredibly ridiculous right now!!

This path has thrown me a lot of curve balls also. I have one more semester of pre req's and I have gone from being sure I wanted to go to a private, expensive school and have it over with in 13 months to going to ADN to BSN to MSN route at my local CC, and finally I am at the point of applying and find myself hoping for a local BSN program at a state university. Each time, I had great reason for wanting that path and each time some roadblock got thrown up in my path. Now, I am comfortable that if the BSN path doesn't work out and I don't get aceepted, then ADN is the place I was meant to be. Each path has it's advantages and disadvantages, I am learning to do the best I can and accept what happens graciously.
Best wishes to you!
