Hi, so I work as a psych tech and have to come up with ideas for group therapy. I am trying not to be redundant with groups and run groups similar to rec therapist or OTs.
Currently our day to day groups are:
Morning goals group- Run by the tech
AA/Substance Group – Run by a AA member twice a week
NAMI group – Run twice a week by NAMI members of course
Coping Skills group – Run twice a week
Dealing with emotions group – Run twice a week
Music group – 3 times a week
Mind fullness group – Once a week
Meditation/Relaxation group – Three times a week
Exercise group – Three times a week
ADLS Group – Once a week
Discharge Group (Done by social worker) – Once a week
Medication Management Group – Not usually done
Understanding Your Illness, which is broken down into three groups spanned across the week. It recognizes your illness first day, second day how to identify how this affects your life and utilize skills learned through the week, and third day is mostly about ways to manage illness when discharged, that includes medication management. This group is usually run by the Tech.
Wrap Up group summary of the day.
Thinking might try a mindfulness group in the evenings at my work that focus on breathing exercises and add in some positive psychology.
Appreciate any ideas can offer up? What does your units' group schedule usually look like?
Thanks for any advice!!! :-) :-) :-)
