Does anyone have any experience with this facility in Dallas?Any info would be greatly appreciated! :nuke:
I've never worked there, but knew a nurse who did; her experience was rather frightening.
I don't recall the details, but what I can tell you is that this is a freestanding psych hospital (or I'm certain it was 3 or 4 yrs ago, I believe). So if a pt. presents with new onset delirium or change in mental status and they admit and as soon as they arrive on the unit they have a CVA; what do you do? you don't have a medical ER, so you have to call 911, but you are responsible until they arrive; it's just not safe for the pt. nor you. I avoid freestanding clinics at all cost; unfortunately psych units within a hospital are harder to come by due to the lack of profit mental health brings
I also know they are a HCA hospital which I liken to the identical twin of Tenet
just for fun I typed the following "are HCA hospitals evil?" in google; I didn't click the links but saw enough; check it out for yourself
Green Oakers is the place for mePsych nursing is the life to be.
so are you saying that Green Oaks is an excellent place to work, or were you just making a funny? If it's a great place, could you give specific examples (e.g., excellent ratios, mgmt, pay, benes, etc.) so the OP can make a more informed decision; are they still free standing or have they added a medical dept which would be more adequately equipped to handle the pts. who are dropped off by loved ones because they think grandma is acting a bit weird these days

Interjecting a bit of humor never hurts in this world.
A poster on this forum worked for them and, in the end, did not have very good things to say about the facility. I interviewed there a fewyears ago and found the management to be disorganized and uncaring.
Wysong in McKinney has a better reputation than this place, if that helps-and, that's not saying much.

Wysong ceased to exist decade or more ago.
It is all under Green Oaks Dallas, or as we call it G.O.D.

As of less than a year ago it is still in existance. Although it is part of HCA, it still retains it's name as the Wysong campus and operates mainly in conjunction with McKinney Medical Center.
