green card question

Published

If a hospital or Clinic sponsors your green card, how long does the process take? Do you owe the hospital a certain number of years??? Or can you practice for a bit, and then work in another profession if you don't like it?

Thank you for your help.

Sarah

Right now there is a retrogression, so processing is on hold for RNs. Most facilities that will petition you want a two year commitment.

However, if the RN is a Canadian citizen, then they qualify for the Nafta TN Visa. And that gets renewed yearly. And the nurse can hold that while the green card petitioning is taking place.

Both the green card and the TN Visa require the RN after your name. For the TN Visa, you need to have passed the NCLEX-RN exam and have a Visa Screen Certificate, and a job offer from a facility and they will issue that visa right at the border.
