Yes, it was my first time. Unfortunately, the one school I really wanted to go to requires the test. When I looked at score conversion it was like a 500 something for math (or 600 something if it happens to be the higher score of the two) and 400 something verbal. It added to like 1030-1060 or so. My GPA from Bachelor's was a 3.4 overall. I think it was higher for nursing specifically.

So, my official scores were 145 (math) and 151 (verbal) and 3.5 (writing). Oh, well. We will see how it goes. I submitted my application today. I have to find out from the school if there is a supplemental application specifically for the school (the one I did is for Schools of Public Health Application Service).
If it is meant to be, it will be. I wish my luck would change for the better though!! It would be a dream if I got a public health nurse position and got accepted for a MPH. It would be an absolute dream.

I don't really know why in this day and age schools still require these tests. What do they prove? I would think your GPA from your bachelors would be significant enough. I looked into many schools for my MSN and immediately passed on the ones that required GRE test scores.
I concur -- the GRE is a bunch of baloney (and money-making racket!). How can one test measure how well you'll succeed at the graduate level? I'm currently an MPH student at a CEPH accredited program that did not require the GRE, my qGPA is a 3.95, and I'll be graduating this August. Bah!

This is a link to a scores chart that compares the old scores with the news ones. The chart is on page 24.

I don't know what school you are trying for, but I know a lot of masters nursing programs I have looked at require a minimum of 153 verbal and 144 quantitative, so don't beat yourself up- you did pretty well! Plus, if your program doesn't specifically state the required scores, maybe their specific requirements are a little more loose.
If this was your first time taking the GRE, bravo. I had to take it twice. My first scores were a new level of 'awful.'
Good luck :)
