grandma nurse interested in travel nursing

I was interested in doing traveling nursing when my daughter graduates from high school. What are some pros and cons that people have and where are the best places to go? It doesn't matter where I go but I would like to find a location that is close to where my kids are living all over the country. How many years experience do you need to have and do you need certain qualifications to be a traveling nurse?

There is a Traveling Nurse forum under the Nursing Specialties section that has a lot of info! I'm sure you can find the answer to your question and much more there. I have heard you need at least 1 year of acute care experience to get started as a travel nurse. Hope this helps a little. Good Luck!

I think you should have about 2 years experience just so you feel comfortable with your skills. Qualifications wise you need to be able to hit the ground running, with my current assignment I shadowed for 2 12hr shifts and then I was on my own; I have heard at some assignments you only get one shift to shadow. Being outgoing is a good quality, that way you can get out there and meet new people. Hope this all helps!
