I have heard of people graduating with job offers in place. I am not sure how that works- but I would love to have a job by graduatuon. Do you just go in and apply for nursing jobs and say "I can't start until Jan. 1 because I need to graduate and take boards." I just don't see why they would hire me with such a big contingency hanging over my possible employment.
Any words of wisdom in this area?

I started applying in March, interviewed in April, hired May 1st. I started May 26th and got my RN license June 4th. I wouldn't say anything about a start date until you are offered a job or asked about one. Where do you live? Lots of areas that are actually needing nurses (see: more rural areas away from the bigger cities) are willing to hire with that contingency and some states allow nurses to work on a provisional license until they pass NCLEX (Kentucky being one of those states).
Apply with your graduation date listed as "Anticipated Dec. ___" and be confident in your interviews! Good luck!

I think you should start applying for jobs this summer. The earlier the better.
