I finished my NA class two weeks ago and I AM SO BORED. It's unfair that they make you wait so long to take your state's test after you complete your class. People have to work. I'm so frustrated sitting at home WAITING to find out when I take the state's test so I can be certified.

Monday is my last day of class and then I have to wait until the 28th for my test so I know how you feel. Im afraid that I'll forget everything I've learned before then.

When I was applying for jobs I told them that I am schedule to take the state boards March 25th. Some said to wait until then, while others were still willing to interview. I'd call any of the places you are interested in apply to see if they require you to be state certified or if the certification from the class would do until you pass the test. In my state, we have 120 days to work while class certified. So, you never know if you can start working now.
As far as forgetting what you learned... practice on everyone you know! I use my friends and family all the time to make sure I remember all the skills while I wait for the state board.
You know your test date?? I'm still waiting for the letter to tell me when mine is!!!!! UGHHHH.

I have been applying to jobs. Having the certification and the test date would make things easier though.

I know exactly how you feel. My class was completed on March 20Th:banghead:
Next week we have Clinical's, so that will give me a little excitement. However, these past two weeks have been anxiety creating. Luckily, my CNA School allows students to come in & practice their clinical skills @ what they call remedial classes. I've been going to these classes for the past two weeks; however, there is so much drama and politics that I still don't feel like I'm prepared.
So after clinicals are over for the day next week, i'll make my way to my school to practice some more. After that, my school does a pre-test for State Boards, and then I will be eligible for State Board testing.
Three more stages until my Certification
1. Clinicals
2. Pass Pre Test
3. State Board Exam
I am tired of the facility, and the people in it. Such uneccesary BS associated with my experience so far. I am definately excited about Clinicals, though Wonder who is going to pull a complete 360 in their personality and pretend to be professional and have some sort of work ethic
Some of my classmates were so IMMATURE. But some of them matured towards the end of the class.

I live in Florida and just took my state test this past Wednesday and passed. Here in Florida they tell you immediately after the exams whether you pass or fail and you do get a paper saying so....you just have to wait for your official certification to come in the mail. I know after I graduated CNA school, they tell you some places will hire you without actually having your certification.....I found out otherwise though.....no one around here will touch you (hire) without being state licensed.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. The written is a piece of cake if you study the questions at the end of each chapter of your book. The clinical - Big Time - knock, announce yourself, don't forget hand washing before and after-talk to the patient the whole time explaining exactly what you are doing. You will do great!
