Grades from 20 years ago

Im getting ready to apply for an accelerated BSN program and am worried about old grades that I have from my first try at college 20 years ago. I got a few Cs and Bs in English, Statistics, and Algebra. These are all prereqs for the program I am applying to tomorrow. Currently I have all As in all of the rest of my prereqs Anatomy, Physiology, Micro, Pscyh etc.

Do admissions looks more closely at your latest school grades or your earlier ones or a combination of both. I've thought about retaking the classes I made Cs and Bs in but if I do that it would put me another year behind.

Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Ron

I think that you will be just fine because you have A's in the important science classes, especially A&P. I just took A&P1 and my prof said that nursing programs look closely at A&P when considering admission. I would check with the school that you want to apply at about what their requirements are since all programs are different. I hope that I can do as well as you and get an A in micro which I am taking this spring

Good luck and keep us updated how you are doing.

I think you will be fine too. You currently have outstanding grades. Good luck!

I dunno, some schools wont take classes 20 years old, I'd definitely ask. Im in California too. And if they do take them, they WILL count in your GPA.

I wouldnt assume it will be fine. Check with the school your applying too.

They wont care that your current grades are better, all the prereqs will be counted into your prereq GPA. Some schools allow you to repeat classes, and some only allow 1 or 2 repeats of prereqs total- Im having the same issues with old grades causing me problems, so call the schools nursing department first.
