GPS units - What's yours?

Hi all you Road Nurses:D

I am probably one of the worst possible navigators on the planet - I get lost in shopping malls and have no sense of direction whatsoever! Anyway, I got a neat little Garmin Nuvi 250, an entry level GPS in the hopes that I'll find my way home after bopping around the province.

Do many of you have these delightful little devices? What are your experiences? What kind do you have and recommend/warn against?

Mine came with the car. I don't have the book right now and don't know what model it is but I like the screen appearance a lot better than any commercial stand alone model I've seen. So far, it has been ok. Most of the time I find that I find an alternate route soon after I use the GPS or mapquest route. I like to avoid highways or main thoroughfares if possible.

My family would get so frustrated with me because I would always be out later that I had planned because I got lost. My hubby and daughter got me a Magelan,not sure of the model, for Christmas. The best gift I have ever gotten!It's great for when you get a call to open a new case or while you are on-call.I won't leave home with out it!

[color=sienna]i have a garmin street pilot that i got two years ago...it's wonderful, and has never gotten me lost...which is more than i can say for my sense of direction!:coollook:

I use a Navigon , not sure the model 2100 maybe, LOVE ,LOVE, LOVE it, I would be dead without it,it was cheap, about 120.00, color screen, has everything I need :yeah:

I have had a Nuvi 350 along with the traffic antenna for about 2 years, and had a StreetPilot 2620 for 2 years before that. I also would be lost without it! I load extra POI (points of interest, such as Dunkin Donuts, and Starbucks!) in it. I am a homecare nurse, and often go out at night, so it is a lifesaver, especially in the dark, or in neighborhoods where the street signs seem to end up in someone's home rather than on the street.:chuckle

Some GPS units have integrated traffic, but mine has the capability to add the antenna. With the antenna, real-time traffic congestion and other details like construction, fires, accidents, etc show up on the GPS unit, and give you the opportunity to divert around severe traffic problems. When you buy the antenna, it comes with 15 months of free service. After that, it's about $13/year-well worth it, in my opinion.

Bought my daughters the Garmin Nuvi 200W for Christmas. No bells and whistles...just navigation. Very good price and they work really well. I have built-in GPS in my car and think theirs works even better!

However....don't go to Circuit City...they advertise the 200 as the widescreen, but it's not. Make sure the box says 200W....the widescreen gives you a better map.

I have had a Garmin now for the past 2 years. They are really a necessity when doing agency work and HH visits. I just moved into a new city and I would have been lost without it directing to the new office, patients and back home again. Well worth the cost.

Yup, I've used my Garmin Nuvi for the past week now and thank my lucky stars for the dear thing. New city? No problem! Bring it on!:1luvu:
