There are lots of people who go to nursing school with GPA's less than 3.5 on their pre-req's. They just don't go to the school you are applying to. Each school is different -- and has its own criteria for admission. You are just going to have to broaden your horizons and find a school that better matches your circumstances.
Good luck to you.
Hello,So I'm finishing up all my pre-reqs to apply for nursing school, and my Pre-req GPA comes to a 3.45, I went to my advisor and she basically told me you can try but the cut off GPA last semester was 3.5. Is there anyone out there that got into a nursing program with a 3.4 ? I was going to re-take one class but they just change their rules stating if you have a C they will only accept the first grade you have.
I had a 3.7 and didn't make the cut for my program ...but I was able to sneak through as an alternate. You're close enough that it might be worth applying. The cut-off is likely to vary from year to year.
Start looking at other schools, too, though.
People in my nursing program got accepted with a GPA way lower than a 3.4. It just depends on the school and how many people are applying that year. The cut off GPA varies year from year, so I would apply and see what happens. But, don't limit your options of schools, apply for a few more and retake the classes you got a low grade in just incase.
Best of luck.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket and apply to a bunch of schools! Also, there are other schools that will allow at least one retake in the sciences and the best grade will be used for admission. The schools I applied to allowed one retake in math/sciences and no limit of retakes on the other classes.
