I have a bachelors degree from SIUC in a non nursing field with a cumulative GPA of 3.2. I am currently taking prerequisites to get into a nursing program. I have talked to an advisor for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville accelerated nursing program and I was told that my 3.2 GPA is too low to be accepted. I am also looking at St. Johns College in Springfield, IL. I have found out that schools will list on their website that they accept a certain GPA range; but, then I talk to someone and find out that they actually only accept higher GPA's than they list on the website. Since when is a 3.2 for a bachelors degree not good enough? I worked hard, but these schools make me feel like I'm lazy and unintelligent, and I am neither. I worked full time while taking a full load of classes every semester. I'm not making excuses, I'm explaining why my GPA is not higher. I had lots of friends with 3.8's and 4.0's, but none of them worked! Can anyone tell me if any GOOD school would accept me (in Missouri or Illinois). I am striving for A's in all the prerequisites that I'm taking right now. I have a working spouse, so I can actually work part time while going to school. Sorry this is so long. I just want the opportunity to go to nursing school and I feel like I'm not worthy or deserving in the eyes of these schools just because my GPA is 3.2.
