I'm just finishing my undergrad degree at McGill University and I have a few questions on applying to an accelerated BSN program.
1) Do schools take into consideration the undergraduate school where one graduated?
2) I have a 3.4 total GPA with a major in Kinesiology and a 3.71 in the pre-req courses (Nutrition, Stats, A&P, etc.). Will I have a decent chance of getting accepted somewhere?
3) Do state schools give preference to state residents?
Thanks and cheers

I'm in accelerated program now....
1. yes, they do. They want all transcripts of all of your work. However, for my program, they took EITHER your overall GPA OR your GPA from nursing pre-reqs.
2. Those GPAs look good to me...I had a 3.7
3. Not sure about state schools...I'm at a private university.
Good luck!

They must pay attention to your school - I had semi-stinky grades at a very good university - but A's in all my pre-reqs after. And it was easier getting most of those A's than some of the C's I got earlier.
Thank you so much.

Your prereq GPA would be competitive for MN State Mankato's accelerated BSN program. For my class you would have been in the acceptance zone.
