Horses and the military

  1. Hi,

I have a dilemma and was hoping someone out there was a horse enthusiast as am I. I am considering joining the Air Force Nurse Corps (if accepted) and am hoping that once stationed, I will be able to locate my horse within driving distance at a boarding facility outside of the AFB. I was wondering if this is a ridiculous hope and if it's impossible to fit horses into your life as a military nurse? Does anyone have any experience with this? I would hate to have to sell my horse. I understand that it's impossible to bring her along on deployments though it would be wonderful ;o)

Thank you all very much for your help.

If you can have a nurse in the civilian sector you can have a horse in the military sector. I even knew someone who brought there horse with them to Germany. A little expensive but doable. Keep the horse.

Some bases actually have stables for keeping your horse. You have to do some research to ind out which ones. Lackland has one for sure. If its full for some reason, then there are about a hundred stables in San Antonio that would love to have your business. You should be in good shape at most AF the above poster said.
