ACNP in the military

Recently I've read a position statement about the military adopting Acute Care NPs. I've seen where Air NG has a specialty code for them but none of the other branches do. Does anyone currently serving know of any plans to utilize AGACNPs or ENPs?

I can't speak to the Air Guard specifically, but the active duty Air Force certainly uses Acute Care NPs in the inpatient setting. I've seen them function sort of like hospitalists. I have heard of them functioning as adjuncts to intensivitists, but I've not seen it myself. I have yet to see or hear of them being used in the ER.

I would say that it's a fairly new role. Base locations are limited. Degree of actual day-to-day autonomy varies.

I actually applied to AFIT for the AG-ACNP role. I am anxiously awaiting the results. The Air Force had 4 ACNP slots for AFIT this year. Bases are limited. I was hoping it would expand choices, but, if I become an ACNP, I will have 6 bases to choose from. During my interview, I can't remember if I was told they currently have 12 ACNP's or will after these 4 slots.
