Got verbal offer, how long until written/official offer?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi all,

I recently graduated in May, took and passed NCLEX in June, and have been applying to many hospitals ever since. I landed 4 interviews: One is still pending, one I didn't get, one I am going to at the end of this week, and one I got an offer from!

I got the offer Tuesday morning (7/28) over the phone. He told me about the salary and went over when orientation starts etc. When he asked over the phone if I accept the offer I said yes. He said I will be receiving an e-mail of the offer letter which I can sign electronically and submit and following that I will have another recruiter get in touch with me to go over the details of the orientation process.

My questions: He was going over A LOT of different things all at once over the phone and I didn't catch him mentioning any time frame on when I'd be receiving this e-mail with the offer to sign. Should I call him back to ask when I should be expecting this e-mail? Should I give it a few days. How long does it usually take to get a written offer after a verbal offer? Should I wait for the written offer before giving my job 2 weeks notice?

Thanks for any advice!

Give it 5-6 days and if you dont hear back by the beginning of next week send the manager an email. Definitely wait for the written offer before giving notice.
