I think the best decision I ever made was to go per diem. I would be very burnt out by now had I not. 12s are not easy-----esp on fulltime basis. Acute care is definately not easy----I can take it in small doses, not all the time.

Each of us has to find what works. But you need to do this SOON. Your symptoms are very concerning. You ARE sounding depressed and in the grips of moderate-severe anxiety. Change your situation however and as soon as you can and seek medical attention if the symptoms persist. Take care of yourself; many nurses do so well at caring for others but not themselves. Don't be one of them! I wish you well.
