Got through NCLEX with 85 questions and failed :(

Published

Hey everyone. So I'm feeling super SUPER discouraged. So I took my NCLEX yesterday and got through to 85 questions. I had a LOT of SATA and safety questions. I didn't know what to expect. Everyone was telling me that for sure I passed because 85 is usually a "good" number. But then I did the PVT and got charged :( Meaning strike one. Then I saw that my exam application got taken down from pending. Strike two. Ugh. I'm super upset and I don't know what to do from here.

Anyone have any tips? Study tips? Should I take a break to study? Should I get a PCT job? Anyone who's had experience, please help a girl out. I'm devastated. :angrybird3:

@supernursern1 I used kaplan for study strategies and qbank questions. Then I used Saunders for content review and questions. I haven't used uworld though.
Did you finish reading the whole saunders book? did you make any notes? from saunders? how long it took you to finish the saunders book?

Hi! Im wondering when did you take the nclex-rn and how long did it take you to get your letter?

@supernursern1: I didn't. I first did questions on Kaplan and the online resource guide to see what I struggled in and mainly studied and took notes on those sections.

@CA_nurse90: I took it this past monday and got my letter yesterday. I think how fast you get your letter all depends on how fast your school mails your transcripts to the boards.

I passed for the 2nd time around.. I went to this private review.. And she is really good.. I just used her strategies.. And boom 75 questions in 40 mins.. Passed!

Do you have a general sense what level of questions you were getting? Not question format, but the difficulty of the questions?

I just got my official letter saying I failed. :( I was near average with all of them but pharm and basic comfort and care which were below average.

I have some questions:

For anyone who has been in my shoes, does anyone know when they got their retake ATT?

Also, any study tips? I studied all of Kaplan's questions. I have the Saunders book and have been doing the online practice for that. I've also heard about Uworld, so I'm thinking of doing that.

Uworld. Everyday. Redo what u get wrong. Take notes on the rationales. Redo the ones that are right. I used to talk to myself thru every question and answer, why it was wrong, why it was right. The whole Qbank.

I'm in MD. Once I submitted my app, took 3 business days to get my ATT. But I dropped my app off in person. On a Friday. Called them Tuesday and had them release my stuff to get it.
