Got the job @ UCI...where the heck do i live?!

Published

Hello all, I just graduated and have gotten a job at UCI medical center...and now am looking into apartments and all that jazz to move (i'm moving from PA). Anyways i look at apartments that seem nice go to apartmentratings.com and seems like everybody says they have gang members living in their communities, break ins, etc. I'm a country girl ready for change, but i would like to feel safe. Someone reccomended living at huntington beach...but that doesn't appear safe by the reviews either. Where do i go to be safe and not too far from the hospital?!?! I'm starting to get worried. Does anyone know of a safe, nice apartment complex or even areas or zipcodes to avoid?? Thanks to all!! :uhoh21:

But UCI Medical Center is not in Irvine. It is in Orange but a side of Orange that borders on Santa Ana and Anaheim. It is also close to Garden Grove and Westminster--it is not very close to Irvine. This is because the UC system bought an existing hospital to start their medical center. Now with real estate at such a premium, the hospital is building a replacement facility at the same location--that is why there is no place to park at the moment!

There are real problems with gangs in some areas surrounding the hospital--there are always gunshot wounds coming in to the ER. That doesn't mean there aren't lots of family areas to live in as well. If you chose to live in Irvine and work at UCIMC, it would mean a bit of a commute.
