Got my degree eval. back

Specializes in wound care, sub-acute, community nursing.

Hi everyone!

EC just e-mailed me by degree evaluation. I need sociology, Info Lit? and a 3 credit elective like music or art as well as my nursing exams. Have any of you taken the "non nursing" courses through EC? i'm so excited to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!! Even though I still have ALL my nursing course left, I have been taking pre-requisites for so long at my local community colleges that it seems like I have been in school forever!:p

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Take the "Introductory Sociology" CLEP for the sociology credit, and save yourself money vs. doing the course with EC:

For Information Literacy (required of everyone), take it through Penn Foster and save yourself a lot of money. Info is here: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/ec-info-lit-388069.html

Not sure about the other credits ... I came in with two associates degrees to start, so I had most of my general ed stuff done.

Pretty much any other school or the CLEP tests are going to be less expensive than taking an EC course. If it were me, I would just finish them off at your current school so they are on the same transcript for the future. Sounds like it is time to get that first nursing test under your belt! Good luck.

I've been waiting now for 4 wks now for my evaluation (1 of my transcripts took 3 wks). Anyway, based on my own review I wiil need the same courses. Which elective did you choose.

I haven't chosen a enelctive yet sondon. at my local CC classes are about 400 a piece for a 3 credit class. I will take the cheapest route possible! Thanks for all your help Lunah!! (as always):redbeathe

I took all of my electives online through local community colleges. I needed a nice break from 'self study.' It added to the cost a little bit, but it kept me on task.

I have to say that's one nice thing about my RN-BSN -- even if it is online, it's structured and has lots of interaction with my classmates. :) I was sooooooooooo tired of the self-study thing, like you, Erin.
