recently i am interested in nursing as a career, working at a nursing home as nurses aid, taking class for cna, and applying for BSN nursing school.
it's starting to become a gossip vacuum where i work, usually it doesn't bother me but this is ridiculous and disconcerting.
can anybody relate or give advice?

Don't really know what your talking about with the gossip. Is it staff gossiping about staff or staff about clients or both or what?
I would only ask you if you have observed nursing and really feel that you will be happy as a nurse. There are many other professions in the medical field that pay as much or more and are not nearly as stressful or even involve as much manual labor or hands on Pt care.
Radiology tech, Ultra sonographer, speech therapy, dietician, Respiratory therapy. I only ask because a lot of people don't realize there are so many options in the medical field.
Good Luck in all endeavors and if you feel called to be a nurse that is really all it takes.

Don't participate. Without knowing any specifics I can't offer much more assistance.
thanks for your replies,
its staff on staff, staff on clients, clients on staff, etc.
i don't participate but it's bothered me on the things i've heard, today especially, i left work early.
anyway i'll keep at it and see what happens

Not participating is good. You can do more good if you ask people not to gossip to you.
Let them know you would rather hear something uplifiting. Then you offer them something that is uplifting.

Yes I can relate. I work in a nursing home and the gossiping is soo bad... I swear, they all new I was pregnant even before I knew. The problem with my facility is that it is so small most of the staff and residents have been around so long. I think in a nursing home the residents gossip more since it is a closer knit environment and "home" atmosphere.... its like their pm entertainment!
