Gordon State BSN Fall 2017

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for those who have applied to Gordon's BSN program for Fall 2017.

I applied for the initial deadline - I think it was May 31st, and took the Kaplan test last week. Would love to hear from others who have applied so we can support each other as we wait for acceptance letters!

I've been looking for this thread since right after the Kaplan and I just now found it! I don't know what took me so long! Lol

How did you do on the Kaplan? Have you received anything yet?

I got 76 on the Kaplan. And I haven't heard anything from the school, however a couple of girls (I don't know if their info is accurate) told me that only 60 people applied. According to banner registration there's 50 spots available so if all is correct chances are good!

I have heard numbers similar to that! The numbers I heard were actually lower. The last two testing dates are this week (for the people who applied during the extended deadline) so hopefully we will get something next week!

If we don't find out before Spring 2018 application period (June 30), then I'm going o apply for that one also.

My mistake. The last two testing dates are the week after next (the week of May 22). I am getting ahead of myself. Lol!! So maybe we will get lucky and find something out the first week of June.

Yea the girl said the letter stated she did not score high enough, however she met the minimum requirement . I just hope they send letters soon I got into mga's nursing program and don't want to wait all summer for them lol. Have you all finished your pre reqs and what critical thinking score did you get on the Kaplan ? I got a 83%

I am in the same boat as you. I am accepted into Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University. I have two additional classes to complete for them that Gordon does not require. So I need to know something ASAP!

I made a 84% on the Kaplan. I have completed all of my core for the BSN program at Gordon.

Hey guys.

as a person in the ASN program. I'm ganna give you some advice. If you're accepted anywhere else than Gordon. GO THERE. This program is tough, and they will not care to help (or about) you one bit. Nursing school is tough, but this program makes it so they fail more than they pass. Want to know the stats for the recent graduating class? Starting students: 78. graduating students from the same starting class: 12. They don't care about you, the professionalism of this program is the worst I've ever seen or even heard about in my life. You think you're going to have a life? Try being here M-F from sun up to sun down and being taught by professors that contradict themselves. I wish I would have gone somewhere else. This program has been one of the worst decisions in my life. Don't believe what I'm saying...? Ask any student currently in the program. And y'all being a BSN, I can't imagine what they're going to put you through. Good luck. I wish you all the best. The passing rate for the NCLEX-RN is almost at 100% but the finishing rate for the program isn't even half that. Good luck to yall, but I'd go somewhere else before here.

Thank you for letting Us know !! I actually heard that it's extremely hard at Gordon but I didn't know how bad it was ! I always thought it was one of the best programs but sad to hear that they don't care about their students. My friend know a good bit of people who failed out as well

This is very unfortunate to hear. I currently attend Gordon and I absolutely love it! I know two people personally who have both graduated from Gordons program and they both have very little complaints. I know a couple people currently enrolled in the program and they have very little complaints as well. I appreciate your advice though. I think it is expected to give up the majority of your time during nursing school. I also believe a lot of people go into nursing for the wrong purpose and a lot of people find that it is not their true calling (while in nursing school). I have heard good things about the majority of the professors. The high NCLEX-RN passing rate is a huge deal. You can have a 100% pass rate but a low NCLEX-RN passing rate and you are doomed. It is essential that they prepare you for that test and for the real world. Your diploma means nothing if you cannot pass the NCLEX. Everyone I know that has graduated from Gordon's nursing program has passed it on their first attempt. I have heard worse about other schools. Everyone is different I guess!

Again, I really appreciate your advice. I hate that you are having such a bad experience and I wish you lots of luck.

Yea I looked at their site it stated they had over 50% of their 2016 class graduate which is a good retention rate. A good program will have a pretty good retention rate and nclex pass rate . most students coming in are coming with high gpas some are A+ students all through pre reqs so if your retention rate is extremely low there's an underlining issues amongst the program. I'm glad you brought this up though and if you truly do not like how they may be definitely look into transferring to possibly another college. There's plenty of colleges in Georgia with good retention rates and high nclex pass rates ! I love Gordon but if I ever felt like my education was not in good hands I def would look at my options .Just pray on it hun and good luck !!!

I received my acceptance letter today! Has anyone else received one yet? Good luck to those who are still waiting!!
