Nursing Students SRNA

Anyone go there or grad from there? Whats your opinion of the program?

I don't know much about UAB but Gooding boasts way over the required number of cases for their graduates. They put you in the OR right away. I think this is a good thing because all of their graduates report being well prepared for the job and the students love the program. Another difference between the two is that UAB will be university based and Gooding is not. Unfortunately, I don't know any of their current students but I think they could give you more information

I am a senior student here at Gooding now. My class has 13, we started with 15. The current junior class has 18 people and the interviewing class for next year will be 18 as well. You will receive many more cases and a variety of clinical experiences. We have added a Sacred Heart rotation for more OB and peds exposure in pensacola and a CRNA only group at Jackson Co. hospital. Both rotations have call rooms available to stay in. I have almost 700 cases and still have 9 months to go. You also get the call experience which I think is important. This is not a 7-3 type of job so why train that way? Many of my friends that went to UAB didnt feel well prepared when they got out. Either due to only working 8-9 hours a day, limited call, and obtaining the minimum required case load. I can only speak about my own experience and what close friends have told me about their programs.

Let me know if I can help.
