Because communication with your recruiter is so important, it can outweigh any particular agency. I'd recommend calling a number of agencies and weeding them down to five that communicate well and are apparently trustworthy. You can also go with small, medium, or large agencies and all have advantages. Don't worry too much about your first choice as what is important is to get a successful travel assignment under your belt and on your resume. So a large agency with lots of assignment choices like American Mobile or Cross Country might be a good choice for your first assignment, or a smaller agency like PPR or PHP with good reputations for service (none of those are known for great pay though). But recruiter first!

I agree with NedRN about communication with your recruiter being very important. In my experience, it seems most recruiters just want to throw you to the wolves (any hospital, any-where) to make a quick buck out of you without regard to your wishes. If you find a good one who listens to your wants/needs regarding your location, pay, housing, etc then you've struck gold. As a new traveler, I found Highway Hypodermics: The Ultimate Site For Travel Nursing Information to be a great site for rating travel companies (not recruiters). You could start there, find a company, then "interview" recruiters. Good luck.
Thanks you New and Apple, I think I might of found one, anyone know much about Voyage, on HH good ratings recruiter very nice and informative, I think I might go with them, so nervous big life change for me.
