I just got accepted into nursing school for the summer...and I am very excited but I am in need of some help. I really need some good study tips from everyone. I tend to wait till the last minute to study..or not focus enough while im studying...how do i study? How do you study? I know I need to find my own way to study..but I have been trying that for 2 semesters and so for i have got nothing.
What do ya'll do and what are some good pointers/tips?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

1.DRAW! if there is a process that you don't understand or just can't remember, sketch it out... it was really helpful for me in all my subjects!
2. Flash cards- but they need to be created BEFORE the exam otherwise you're wasting valuable study time.
3. Repeat after me: "everyone has different learning habits and study tools"--- and it may help to remind some of your (soon to be) classmates... who cares if miss X started srudying 5 months before the exam? ppl like that gain confidence by putting yours down.... stay clear of them during test season.
4. PLAN your study time, and plan your down time too... sucks to suddenly be available but none of your friends are!
5. WORKOUT- even if you don't have time, get off the bus 2 stops earlier and walk...
6. prepare your food the night before, that way you'll less likely to throw in a pop tart or some other unhealthy snack because you are in a hurry.
Hope this was helpful, I wish that someone had told ME all this before i started nursing school.
Thank you! That does help me out a lot.

Going to school is a job, treat it like one. Use a planner and organize your time. Block off times to study for each class, be sure to include time for breaks and eating. Schedule time for fun or family activities.
As SOON as you get your syllabus, write all due dates and exams in your planner, then write in dates to start studying or start the paper. Color code by class or priority. If you like flash cards, make an appointment to complete them at least a week prior to an exam.
If you have a hard time focusing then be sure to take regular breaks, even if that means a 15 minute break every 30 minutes. If you know you get a break in 30 minutes, you are more likely to focus instead of just thinking "I have to study all night". If you can't focus on reading (like me), then you have to really pay attention in class, use the power points obsessively, and skim each chapter for important concepts.
Skim (at the very least) each chapter BEFORE class, this will help you understand the lecture better. After each class, make flash cards if you can, this way you'll keep up and won't have to do it all at once.
Learning is a very individual process and what works for one may not work for others. You just need to try a few different things and see what works for you.
Also, I would suggest taking a test to find out how you learn best. It would seem obvious, but you would be surprised to find out that most people don't understand how they learn the best. I am a visual learner....It helps me to see procedures (on You Tube) and use charts and diagrams. When I take a test, I can visualize HOW I learned something (I actually see the flash cards or diagram in my mind). You may find out that you learn best just by reading the material, or by doing. Either way, find out your learning style and you will be on your way to better learning!

read the assigned chapters and make flashcards of all the notes. Thats pretty much it.
