Hello,
I worked at Good Sam (per diem) before I left NY. I can tell you this, the HR dept. in that hospital is among the worst I've ever dealt with. They do not return calls or emails. It took 7 or 8 voice mails and several weeks for the HR guy I was referred to, to get back to me. (and that was after the interview/offer!) I recomend lots and lots of follow up.
Well I live 10 minutes from Good Sam and they pay decent money. I am going to look into other hospitals but others are much further. I dont want to travel 45 minutes away with the price of gas and bring home $5 in my pocket.
Also, some hospitals require you to be certified and Good Sam does not. They just state that you need to take Fundamentals. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed since it so close to my home, if not then I will be looking further out.:wink2:

Did you like working at the hospital?

Aside from the initial problems with HR I did like working there. For a larger hospital it was a nice work environment, of course I don't work in the nursing dept. but everyone on the floors seemed very nice. I would think that Stony Brook and Good Sam are the 2 highest acuity hospitals in Suffolk county.
BTW - an NCC grad here!

Thanks for the information. Wow, small world. I was going to apply to Nassau but I got into SCCC. I heard NCC has a great nursing program.

Hello,
Does anyone work for this hospital? I am currently a nursing student and looking for a position as a nurses aide. I filled out 30 applications on line and went to the Human Resource department 3 times in the past 2 weeks.
The hospital advised me that I can work there as a nurses aide since I completed Fundamentals of Nursing and to just state that in my application on line. Well, still no response since January. The HR department advised me that they hold applications 6-8 weeks after and that if I dont get a response to keep on applying for jobs on line.
Just wondering if anyone new the "job application" process for this hospital.
Thanks:heartbeat
