Good programs for ASN new grad (nationally accredited school) to obtain a BSN and beyond?

Please help!

Hello everyone! I'm going to be graduating with my ASN from Brown Mackie College in April! (Yay!!!!) I had an okay experience there but wish it were better. I'm also having a little trouble deciding my next move.

Since I went to BMC instead of a community college or university I am having a hard time getting accepted into a program for a BSN. (BMC is nationally accredited so that is what is causing the issue)

My options are either the only two schools I know of that will accept my degree, Chamberlain, WGU or basically start over with an AA from a community college and then apply for my RN to BSN.

Due to my end goal (more than likely a psychiatric nurse practitioner) I will end up going to a public university for my masters since they are the only ones who offer this.

My question is... if you have gone to Chamberlain or WGU for a RN to BSN were you satisfied (the education, well respected degree, and the school in general) and did you have trouble moving on to an MSN program at a public university?

I am concerned with cost as well. I know my cheapest option would be to go the public route, but I would prefer not to start all over :( !! I worked very hard and don't want to do the work over, or add an extra year to my goals. But I will if I have to!! Are there any other schools out there that I missed?

Chamberlain I know is expensive! I made that mistake already with Brown Mackie and I don't want to do that again!

Also I know that WGU is very affordable, but they have that 3.0 gpa thing that might hurt my chances of getting accepted into a masters program... or am I wrong about that?

Any information would really help a lot! Or if anyone knows of any other schools that are AFFORDABLE and CREDIBLE. I really want to find a good option without having to basically start all over.

I'd also love to hear from anyone who has actually gotten their ASN from a nationally accredited institution and then went back for their AA then RN to BSN at a regionally accredited school.

I never went to one but sometimes nationally accredited schools have a local partner thay accepts their students. In my area troy accepts fortis students into their rn to bsn. Call the school and see if they have a local partner. You could also call troy university's nursing school to see if they would accept credits from brown mackie. Its in Alabama so you might be looking at out of state tuition. You will probably have to search each school's website or call them directly. I think samford in Birmingham accepts nationally accredited students but I'm not sure. Its private though but it is regionally accredited so for your msn you would have to worry about its reputation. Best of luck.

There is actually an all nursea article on this site from 2014 with a list of programs. It cam up when I googled something like what rn to bsn programs take students from for profit colleges. It should also come up if you use the search feature on AN.

My ASN degree is from a non-accredited trade school of shady repute. I completed my BSN online through Western Governors two years ago and enjoyed it.

My WGU degree also enabled my acceptance into the MSN program at Eastern New Mexico University.

Thank you so much Calalily and Commuter! Definitely going to look around a bit more and continue to weigh out my options.
