I disagree, nobody was being rude. She's right, many hospitals around here hire very few LPNs. I'm sorry if that fact upsets you. And the previous post spoke truth as well. You may find some doctor's offices hiring LPNs. It's hard to get into Lexington Medical Center at all right now, regardless of qualification, except through doctor's offices from what I hear.

I checked on the LexMed site and it looks like there are some jobs available for LPNs in Urgent Care. At Palmetto Health there are private duty LPN positions, but they are PRN.

I wouldn't be offended if someone said "Well there are some great hospitals, but they prefer BSNs so they may not hire you." Or "They are not hiring new graduates." I would say "Thank you for warning me that I may need to consider other options."

I am sorry you haven't found a job. I hope you have better luck.

I DO think it is rude because nowhere in my post did I ask for hospitals. Why would someone respond with "I know of a great place to work, but they won't hire you" it makes no sense except to be rude.

Hi merimaidunderwater, you can always use USAJOBS.gov to find LPN positions at the VA hospitals and clinics. I know they do hire LPN's, but most are around $27,500 a year. I work for a VA Clinic as a medical support clerk, and we have LPN's here. I wish you the best of luck. One day I hope to follow my dreams and become an RN, since my children are older now.

"How about SC is a lovely state and my family will be so much closer now." So you are definitely trying for the Columbia area? The VA uses LPNs for their clinics but I don't believe they are used in the hospital units. They do have a nursing home that may have openings. SUmter is about 40 mi a way as is Orangeburg, Newberry, Aiken-lovely hospital and University across the road is 60 mi and is one of our most beautiful towns. I hope you find what you want. It took me about 4 or 5 years trying various nursing jobs to get a good "fit." Good luck

I agree, I'm also getting sick of it. People in this profession should be teammates, not trying to keep secrets or beat each other down.

Rudeness is not allowed. I have seen none in the comments. However as it seems most of the questions have been answered, myself included. lets close this one-OK?
