Good online NP Program

Updated:   Published

I got accepted into Maryville university AGACNP program to start in July. I am concerned about some of the reviews that I have been seeing. Is this school worth going to? Should I decline acceptance and go to a different school. What is a good school to attend? Any an all help would be welcome.

Super late to this post but I saw it during my search. I too am looking into Marysville for their post MSN certificate. This is the only program I found that offer an acute NP tract. Price is approx. 28K. Maybe less if they accept my transfer credit. I'm still on the fence about going back to school because of time constraints and I'm already in major debt from going to a private MSN school. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi,

I have actually applied to Carson-Newman University for the Spring semester, which starts in January. I’ve heard nothing, but good things about their program from smaller class sizes to finding your preceptors for you if you are unable too. This was a huge selling point for me because I didn’t want the stress of finding a preceptor when that time comes. I am working with a nurse who is about to graduate from Maryville. She’s likes the program, but she had to find her own preceptor, which I plan on using as well. Also, the tuition is cheaper then Maryville! ?

ArmyRN79. Thanks for your response. I looked into Carson Newman but they don’t offer the program in my state Georgia. It sounded like a good option

JBMmom,

how is the program going for you? Any chance we could talk about your experience and how the education is structured? Have you done the skills intensive yet? How is it? What do they go over?

So far it is going good. In my third week of Advanced Health Assessment. They switched to Canvas for all your assignments and test. So everyone is getting use to that. I go to my skill intensive in July for 3 days. Right now we video record ourselves everything going over different body systems until our intensive. I don’t mind talking one on one. Feel free to sent me a email.

Hey, just wanted to check how has the program been for you so far. I am thinking of applying there for the MSN FNP program Spring 2021. I was glad to know that they help with finding clinical placements. It seems like this online program is not available in all the states, but once you are graduated you can practice in any of the US states right? It is available in the state I am currently living but just want to know for future in case I move out of here.

Yes you can practice in any state that you want. Just have to take your boards once, and apply for a license in that state.

Look, I'm not trying to be harsh here, but not everyone is meant to be a NP. If you have a low GPA medical schools don't want you. PA schools don't want you. Pharmacy, PT, OT, AuD, Dietary, hell even RN programs don't want you. What is it about these crappy NP programs that will take anyone with a pulse and a loan.

Take some more courses at the undergraduate level or as a graduate non degree seeking status, raise your GPA, and go to a real program, not a joke like maryville, Walden, purdue online, etc.

As a current Purdue ACNP student, I have no idea where you are getting your info. Before you go assuming about schools you might wan to do your research. Not only does Purdue secure preceptors for their NP students, we have multiple on campus visits and access to simulation lab to improve competency in skills.

Furthermore, I have worked with several NPs that have graduated from Maryville and Walden who are highly skilled clinicians. You could go to any school Yale, So-and-so state, it doesn't guarantee you'll be a good or competent NP. It matters what you put into your own education.

Please do not stoop to belittling. It's caddy.

Hi! Are you doing Purdue's ACNP program as a post master's? If so, how far along are you and how are you enjoying it? I'm considering it for a post master's, mostly because of the cost. I'm just trying to get as much information from current Purdue students as I can before I commit!

Thanks in advance!

Hello. I’m actually going to Carson Newman University for my FNP. Purdue didn’t offer to help find a preceptor when I was inquiring and this school does. I am doing this program as a post masters. Finishing up my advanced health assessment course. Four more courses after this one. I like the program a lot.
