Just wanted to share a little good news. I apllied for, interviewed and landed an externship at a local hospital. I will be paired with a preceptor and mentor and this could lead to a permanent position following graduation in December.

congratulations! one piece of advice. . .just in case a permanent position doesn't materialize because this sometimes happens for various reasons. . .see if the manager or some of the rns you work with will be willing to give you a personal recommendation either now or sometime in the future when you do go applying for jobs. you never know when you will need a personal recommendation. get their addresses and phone numbers toward the end of your externship. before you ever use someone as a personal reference give them a call and let them know so they won't be surprised when they receive a call or letter from someone about you. good luck with your externship.
