Hello Nursing Students,
I am currently taking prerequisites, and I've applied to nursing school for fall 2014. Right now, I'm working PRN as a care manager at an assisted living facility. I was wondering if you're able to work (full time, part time, PRN) while being in nursing school? If so, what type of job works well with nursing school (for you)? I've heard that after the first semester of nursing school, students can take the CNA exam and become certified. Do hospitals hire nursing students as nurse techs or CNAs? Does working private duty as a CNA work well with nursing school?
Thanks! :)

Work as a CNA in a hospital!!!! Seriously! No other CNA experience will get you prepared for clinicals like hospital experience will. Yes, hospitals do hire nursing students. If you have good organizational and time management skills you could possibly work as a full time CNA and full time nursing student. There was one girl in my class who did 3 12's plus clinicals and lecture and she was fine. I wasn't as amazing, but I did PRN work and all I have to do when I get my NCLEX is fill out some forms with HR and I have a job in a lovely hospital! It's that easy. Seriously. Hit those hospitals! If you can't get a hospital job to start, work in a nursing home for a few months until you have enough experience for a hospital.
Good luck! You can do it!
