Tonight is my last night as a nurse in CO. I'm lucky in one sense, I'm leaving before the big UCH move from the 9th Ave campus to the new one.
Other than that, I"m sorry to be leaving. Unfortunaly my wife got offered almost 40k more for a faculty position in Atlanta than she was offered here.
I"ll be missing this place though. For the first time in decades I actually like the people I'm working with. I"ve been around for a long time and worked in a lot of places and this "despite the problems that are inherent to nursing" is by far one of the better places I've worked. My co workers are always willing to help, to teach AND to learn. The attendings al let me be a Nurse and do what needs to be done. The residents don't take it persannly when I ignore or bypass them when I disagree with their orders or plans. And I'm getting paid over $4/hr more here than I"ll be making in Atlanta.
Despite all the problems, percieved and real, this is a good place to work. I'll miss it. But even more I'll miss the people I've met and worked with the past year.
Good Bye Colorado

May you have a safe and uneventful move, and may you come to view Atlanta as "home"!

I know how you feel. I was offered my dream job - great work environment, more money - but it wasn't in Colorado. I didn't mind missing the move either.... but I sure miss my friends.
What makes me sad - and this is silly really - is that when Colorado joins the Compact in October, I have to give up my CO license. It was like my last little bit of home...
