I'm planning on my next assignment being in CA, NM, or WA. Any input regarding good and bad facilities would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks![/quote']I have heard from people in CA that USC medical center is bad. They also don't recommend the Ontario area or Oakland. Don't know about WA or NM. i have read sone nurses say that anywhere in NM is bad. CA has mandated patient ratios and required breaks which is nice. plus better pay. Check out this website that rates hospitals based on travel nurses opinions. I wish I had seen it long ago! Although, every experience and every unit is different. I am at a hospital now that is ranked 7/20 points, but for me, it has been ok.http://www.highwayhypodermics.com/travel_nursing_hospital_evaluations.htm

San Francisco has the highest paid rns in the country with great unions and hospitals. Plus Bay Area is a wonderful place to live :)

I am currently on contract at Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver WA and am enjoying it quite a lot. I also just finished a contract at Mercy Medical in Redding CA which I MOSTLY liked as well (had some floating issues related to poor communication but overall experience was good). I've done assignments also at Stanford and Good Samaritan in San Jose (neither were my favorite). I don't know what your specialty is but I'm sure it could affect the experience. I can only speak to ICU but let me know if you want more details on any of the facilities.
