Hello everyone my name is Amber and i am new here :) i am going to be starting CNA classes soon and then in Jan, i am going to start college classes to get my RN :) i was wondering if u had any tips for me as i am just starting out also i have a few questions about becoming a CNA :) 1.How long did it take u to becone a CNA 2.how many questions was on the written state test? 3.how long did u do clinicals and was the clinicals part of the state test hard??

1. I believe the class was three weekends (Saturday and Sunday 8-5ish)

2. This I can't remember. But it was not difficult at all!

3. I had 10 days of eight hour clinicals. The skills aspect of the test is not difficult. Just use common sense, be proactive in clinicals, pay attention, and you'll be fine!

Good luck :)

1. I think my class to become an aide was about 3 weeks in total beginning to end.

2. I don't remember how many questions were on the test, but it was fairly simple. Pay attention in class and study and you'll pass with no problem!

3. I think my clinicals were 2 day 8 hour shifts. The skills are no difficult. It is everything you learned in class. Again, be sure ti practice in class and you'll be fine.

I just started my CNA classes today. They are going to be four weeks, with classes three days a week, then three days of clinicals. I have been taking practice CNA tests and it all seems like common sense, although the skills part of the test seems very detailed, it still seems like common sense. The multiple choice portion in MN has 70 questions.

I agree with the above. If you pay attention in class and clinicals, study and DO the required reading you'll be fine.

I've seen many folks on here say they've failed the test for things like forgetting handwashing so, during the skills part of the test, take your time, and think it through. Don't let nervousness overcome you. :)

...and my classes were 8 weeks (mon-thur & 6hr a day) classroom time. Clinical was 8 days.

Classes depend on the state you are in and many places have a variety to choose from. Here in Cincinnati OH, the classes take about 2 weeks to complete and cost on average of $500. Once you graduate and have your certificate ..you can work ANYWHERE in Ohio as a CNA with a home care agency....I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!! (After graduating from the program, you have 2 years to schedule and do the STNA test....you want to do this right away!!!) If you are interested in home care...let me tell you that you meet a variety of people that are happy to see you come thru the door. YOU would be the reason they are not in a nursing home. Most times the schedule is flexible and can work around childcare, additional classes, and other jobs......

Congratulations! I'm from Canada. I started my HCA (Health Care Assistant) program in May and will finish in the middle of November. So it's 6,5 months. I had 2 clinicals and will have 2 more. :)
