I have a question for nurses that have been through their first year of nursing. I took the June 2 CRNE Exam. I spent four months looking for a job, particularly I would have liked a medical-surgical staff nurse job. At the end of my wits and was no longer able to be unemployed. I took a job at a small 50 bed long term care facility, in Grimsby, Ontario with the new graduate initiative.
Can Anybody give me any suggestions for career planning? My goal is to by the end of my first year of nursing to make the switch back into hospital nursing. How do I make my resume stand out? Is there any further education that might help? (e.g. advance assessment course, wound care certificate etc...) Further is there anybody who took a long term care job as a new graduate that was able to get a job into a hospital after?
Thank you, any responses are much appreciate

I was able to go to active treatment after LTC. I stressed my time management, assessment and documentation skills.
It's just a case of finding the right job at the right time.

I did a year of LTC after I graduated. I took the OR course while I did it. That pretty much guaranteed me a job at a hospital.
