hi everyone,
well i am a FNP student and am currently a manager in LTC and I am deciding to go back to med surg for more clinical skills and to see more diseases and conditions I will be working with in the future. I was in med surg in 2002 and Any advice to make this a smooth transition would be appreciated. I remember those med surg days but i figure i can do anything 3 days a week...Thanks in advance...

Good luck in school & in your return to med/surg. Best advice I would give is to get some orientation when you return to the floor. You've been away from med/surg a few years, and even though still working as a nurse, I think any specialty change merits some degree of orientation, as the patient populations can be SO different! I like to work evening shift, as the pace is slightly less hectic (not always though). Have fun!
