I am doing a case study for school and have to provide 3 short term and 2 long term goals for a pt. with c. diff.
I am drawing some blanks and cannot seem to come up with any good goals. I'd appreciate if someone could give me a few ideas, or info on where to find some good goals for pts. with c. diff. Thanks!!!

Remember when you are writing goals to make them measurable. For example, client will not any skin breakdown for how many weeks in hospital.

C-diff can cause a number of issues. They can become severely dehydrated and need fluids. It can also cause skin breakdown b/c pts can sit in feces for a long period of time if not checked...which leads to UTI's or lady partsl infections. The best thing for this is fecal diversion with a rectal tube or fecel collection system. With lots of diarrhea, you can expect electrolyte imbalances. Pts can lose potassium with diarrhea. You can also find doctors promoting probiotics (some don't believe in them though). Nutrition is also a big factor. C-diff makes everything flow right through the pt, so keeping up proper nutrition is very important. C-diff is also highly contagious, so pts must be on isolation. Nurses must practice hand washing to stop cross contamination in the hospital...hand sanitizers don't work with C-diff.
