I'm having trouble coming up with Goals for my preceptorship on a mental health unit that are specific and measurable. Something about assessments, therapeutic communication, and SBAR are the only things I can think of, but I can't come up with how to make them specific or measurable. Any ideas for what my goals should be?

I was hoping other nurses with more experience would provide input.
Goals for our pts consisted of things like, "the client will be able to verbally state 3 positive coping skills to use when feeling anxious, by the EOS Thursday.
Or "the nurse will spend 1:1 time with the pt in order to allow the pt to feel that her feelings are being heard"
The nurse will provide the pt with a paper and pencil to journal.
The pt will verbally state 3 positive attributes about herself by the EOS Monday.
Pt will verbally state he will seek assistance from staff if he experiences hearing command hallucinations.
Are these the types of things you were looking for?

in care plans, goals are things for the patient to accomplish, but I think you're asking what YOU should accomplish, JS? "I will complete a written psychiatric nursing assessment on one patient per shift," "I will complete a process recording each shift, and identify at least 2 positive uses of skills in it," "I will complete an SBAR report to my preceptor each shift."
Thanks Whispera, thats more of what I was looking for.
